CURTAINS AND DRAPES

Curtains and drapes continue to be the most popular way of dressing windows despite the emergence of Roman Blinds, roller blinds and the resurgence of shutters.picture of curtains in room

That should not really come as a surprise since curtains and drapes come in many different styles and the choice of fabric today is probably as extensive as it has ever been. This means that no matter how big your window is, you should be able to have curtains that really add style to your home whilst still matching your budget.

When it comes to curtains, you generally have three possible routes to follow;

1) buy ready made curtains and hang them yourself

2) buy fabric and materials and make your own curtains and hang them yourself

3) select your fabric and get your curtains professionally measured, made, fitted and dressed.

Ready Made Curtains

These are convenient and cheap but that's about all that can be said in their favour. Ready made curtains come in a limited range of standard sizes, so you need to hope that a ready made is the optimum size for your window. Secondly your choices are very limited. Unsurprisingly the makers of ready-made curtains can only produce curtains in a limited range of fabrics and styles - of necessity these have to be the most popular designs. Ready mades are also 100% machine made to keep cost down and this means that the finish cannot match the quality of handmade curtains. Finally, ready made curtains usually leave the factory folded into small plastic packs and by the time they are hung, the creases have often become a feature of the curtain that even professional dressing cannot remove.

We don't sell or fit ready-made curtains!

Making Your Own Curtains

Many of our customers like to make their own curtains as it saves money and it is very satisfying turning a piece of designer fabric into a finished curtain. However you do need to be confident with measuring, making and fitting curtains.

We are always happy to help you select fabrics for curtains you'd like to make yourself, and we can supply fabric at very competitive pricing. Of course we can supply samples to help you make the right choice.

If you are planning on making your own curtains you might find our curtain measuring guide helpful.

Professional Curtain Service

For the best outcome possible we help our customers select their fabrics from the thousands of fabrics in our collections on display in our shop. But we will also source special fabrics that we might not have and we can usually work with fabrics you already have.

We also help you choose an appropriate curtain style and heading as well as coordinating pole or track. We also can professionally measure for your curtains. For the widest choice of headings and styles and coordinated valances you really will benefit from having our professional curtain service.

Then we make the curtains to your unique requirements. All our curtain makers are experienced and produce items of the highest quality. They work in well equipped workshops with all the tools and equipment needed to produce perfect curtains.

Once the curtains are finished you can collect them from us or we can deliver them to you anywhere in the UK mainland. All our curtains are carefully packaged to minimise creasing in transit and we use express couriers to transport them as quickly as possible.

Alternatively we can fit your curtains for you, together with your poles or tracks and most importantly we always dress your curtains to ensure that they hang beautifully. This is not a quick process but it minimises creases and ensures that your curtains will look their best. We can handle complicated and large curtains with our two-man fitting teams.

If you want the best possible outcome you won't regret getting our professional curtain service.
