LORCA FABRICS: Silk Road & Alexandrine - NEW FOR SPRING 2010

Silk Road:
Sausalito: This design bears the name of the charming island near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco favoured by artists and horticulturalists. The stylised flowers and foliage have Californian tones which are vibrant and soft, exotic and neutral making them suitable for a metropolitan environment as well as the country.
Trapani: This design is named after the port in Sicily which was an important trading post on the maritime routes which crossed the Mediterranean. The crisscrossing lines are a reminiscent of a Madras check and this brings a geometric note to the collection. The colour combinations include classic grey and tobacco but also more exotic ones mixing acid green with pink, violet or yellow.
Ensata: This is the Japanese name for an unusual form of iris which resembles a butterfly in shape. Stylistically this jacquard design owes something to Andy Warhol with colours which are either vivid and brilliant or dark and mysterious.
Floratina: This silk and cotton damask woven near Naples by traditional methods features branches laden with flowers and leaves stylised in a modern manner. The cherry colourway is a traditional one but the others are much more contemporary: absinthe, bright buttercup, pearl grey.
Alexandrine Trevira:
The name Alexandrine with its imperial connotations is particularly suited to this most regal of fabrics. This is a subtle yet rich moiré in a palette of twenty-two colours perfectly suited to both classic and contemporary interiors. Woven in Trevira CS, this moiré is unique for its washable quality. The coverage and intensity of the moiré effect is subject to variation with each production batch.
