Nina Campbell have launched their exciting new collection for spring 2009.

LOMBARDIA CHENILLE

A handsome and versatile semi-plain chenille woven in relief to resemble the bark of a tree. Presented in twenty-one colours to combine with all of Nina Campbell’s recent collections especially Lombardia silks and wallpapers. This fabric has an excellent Martindale abrasion result of 40,000

LOMBARDIA SILKS & LOMBARDIA WALLPAPERS

A collection of elegant wallpapers from Nina Campbell inspired by the style and finesse of Italian craftsmen. The Italian province of Lombardia (Lombardy) was the region in which many of the great violin makers worked.

FARFALLA: Brilliantly coloured butterflies dart across a background of fern leaves. Farfalla is the Italian word for butterfly.

AMATI: A twin coloured mid-scale trellis inspired by an antique screen. Amati is the name of a famous family of violin makers who flourished at Cremona from about 1549 to 1740. Andrea Amati (c1520 – c1578) was the earliest maker of instruments whose pieces survive today.

CREMONA:  Horizontal stripes of the grandest scale, interspersing blocks of colour with delicate strié and metallic effects. Cremona is in the Po valley in Lombardy, Northern Italy

BERGONZI:  Two colours of paisley damask palmettes alternate on contrasting grounds with a metallic or mica finish. Named after Carlo Bergonzi (1683 – 1747) from Cremona, considered the greatest pupil of Antonio Stradivari.

STRADIVARI: A bold, ornate fretwork in monochrome evokes the shape of a violin. Antonio Stradivari (1644 – 1737) was the most renowned of all the Cremona luthiers. His violins and cellos are still highly prized today.

PONCHIELLI:  A self-coloured floral and leaf trail with a crumbling effect set on squares resembling precious metal leaf. Amilcare Ponchielli (1834 – 1886), Italian composer of works such as the ballet Clarina and opera La Giaconda.
